Or at least add more impact to this ending.

In the end I still believe that the story needs some work. I believe the Anti-Hex restores order by eliminating time travel however allows for more than one instance aka “The Loop” which will cause some of the people you know to be “Forgetful” but you are given a gift “The truth” memories of past and future. Now, the Anti-Hex allows Otus a “second chance” and a gift “The truth”. I believe the Hex worked allowing Otus to travel back in time thus breaking “The Loop” and dooms the world in the process. However, he is able to see an inconsistency where he sees two futures one where Otus dies, another where he is in Eternal Sanctuary which should be impossible, but is possible due the star that lets you return to the past (which is where I can see you’d call ‘the loop’ time). If we believe that Noctae predictions are absolute it confirms that “The Loop” exists.

I agree, though I would call "The Loop" Fate rather than time. So his next life would literally be on the next loop. "The Loop" is time, and what the owls found out is that time repeats itself, making everything pointless. Originally posted by CaSquall:The mention about ".in this life or the next" is probably referring to the Loop itself. So, in the end, what was the point? I really didn't come away from this game with any sense of accomplishment or fulfillment, and there were too many questions left unanswered (even after I unlocked the final area with all the owl holograms). Why did he not lead them astray to try to keep them safe? Apparently Owlboy is his ONLY friend after all. And in fact, it made even less sense when they were after the third relic, because he would not have wanted Owlboy to succeed in getting the relic before the pirates could. He clearly follows Owlboy and his friends along so he must've been aware of their intentions, yet he does not once clue them in on what he's up to. Solus's motivations are questionable as well. He essentially acted like he didn't make any of those horrible accusations or completely rejected him post-Advent, and said he believed in him the entire time. I was also displeased by Asio in the ending sequence where he talks to you, barely even making any mention that he was wrong. Is anyone else really unsatisfied with the whole ending sequence of the game? In the end it turned out nothing we did, save for unintentionally providing a distraction for Solus so that the three relics could be stolen, actually mattered at all.Īssuming Solus had managed to find a way to steal the relics without our involvement, which I think is pretty likely, he would've just saved the world all by himself.
